Former Supreme Court Star Had Access to Crypto Wallet Handling $100 Million in Transfers, Prosecutors Claim
Tom Goldstein, a former Supreme Court attorney, is accused by US federal prosecutors of violating tax laws and failing to report cryptocurrency transactions. Goldstein allegedly accessed a crypto wallet involved in $100 million in transfers. Initially indicted on January 16, 2025, the latest filing reveals new information about two wallets associated with him, particularly ‘935B,’ linked to payments for gambling. Prosecutors argue that Goldstein provided this wallet address to a 'fixer' for a substantial payment in May 2023, indicating his use of unhosted wallets for significant financial transactions. Although he was initially granted bail, the court later re-arrested Goldstein due to concerns over his flight risk and failure to disclose all his cryptocurrency holdings. His legal team argues that the charges amount to a technicality regarding his tax returns, emphasizing he had not disclosed any virtual currency transactions, despite evidence of doing so across multiple transactions totaling over $10 million in 2020 and 2021.
