Bitcoin accepted at fast-food chain Steak ’n Shake from May 16
Steak ‘n Shake has announced that it will start accepting Bitcoin as payment at all of its locations starting May 16. The announcement was made via the company's social media on May 9, indicating that they aim to provide cryptocurrency payment options to more than 100 million customers. This move towards Bitcoin acceptance gained traction after a March tweet that engaged the crypto community, including responses from notable figures such as Jack Dorsey. As part of its strategy, the fast food chain has incorporated Bitcoin-themed promotions and marketing initiatives. Accepting Bitcoin is seen as a significant step towards mainstream cryptocurrency adoption, which has seen limited progression in the restaurant sector. Other fast food chains, like Chipotle and Subway, have previously accepted cryptocurrencies, with varying degrees of implementation since 2018. Notably, the history of cryptocurrency and fast food is highlighted by the first Bitcoin transaction for purchasing pizza, celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
