Ripple has announced a $25 million donation in Ripple USD (RLUSD) to two major education nonprofits, DonorsChoose and Teach For America, in a bold move to support struggling teachers and students across the United States. The donation will be distributed via The Giving Block, a platform known for facilitating crypto-based charitable contributions.

The initiative comes at a time of growing concern about the state of American education. A 2024 Gallup survey revealed that 55% of U.S. adults are unhappy with the current quality of K-12 education. Ripple’s donation aims to address this dissatisfaction by helping educators bridge funding gaps that often force them to pay out-of-pocket for classroom materials.

DonorsChoose CEO Alix Guerrier emphasized the burden teachers face, often spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars of their own money to support their students. Teach For America plans to use the funds to expand programs like Ignite Tutoring Fellows and drive forward-thinking educational innovation.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse framed the donation as a challenge to others, encouraging more private sector support during Teacher Appreciation Week and beyond. The goal, he says, is to give educators the tools to build better futures for students and communities alike.

Crypto philanthropy continues to grow. In addition to Ripple’s contribution, Binance co-founder CZ recently donated over $500,000 to earthquake relief efforts in Thailand and Myanmar. Meanwhile, Blockchain For Impact pledged $90 million in March to biomedical research. The Giving Block predicts crypto donations could hit $2.5 billion by 2025.

Ripple’s $25 million move could mark a turning point, positioning the crypto industry not just as a tech disruptor—but as a key player in solving America’s most urgent social challenges.
