The ZKsync Association announced the recovery of $5.7 million worth of stolen ZK and ETH tokens following an incident on April 15 that compromised its airdrop distribution contract. The hacker agreed to return 90% of the stolen funds, which amounted to $5 million at the time of theft, in exchange for a 10% bounty. The recovery included three significant transfers made to the ZKsync Security Council between April 23, totaling $5.7 million due to a rise in the market value of the stolen tokens. The breach was attributed to an exploit in the contract's sweep function, allowing the hacker to mint 111 million unclaimed ZK tokens. Despite the recovery, the ZK token price did not significantly increase and remains nearly steady. ZKsync aims to release a detailed report regarding the security incident.
