Yuga Labs sells CryptoPunks to new nonprofit in focus shift
Yuga Labs has sold its CryptoPunks NFT collection to the newly established Infinite Node Foundation for approximately $20 million, marking a significant shift in focus for the company. The foundation aims to promote and exhibit digital art, starting with the full exhibition of the 10,000 CryptoPunks in a 12,000 square foot space in Palo Alto, CA. This transition, according to Node's representatives, reflects a desire to liberate the Punk ethos from corporate constraints and foster a decentralized, community-driven future for the collection. Node was made possible through funding from prominent investors and features a board that includes notable figures in the crypto art scene. The sale comes as Yuga Labs looks to refocus its efforts after already parting with other projects like Meebits and Legends of the Mara.
