Will ETH Developers Swap Out the EVM for RISC-V?
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a significant overhaul of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) by suggesting the adoption of RISC-V, an open-source framework known for its built-in encryption and other advantages. This transformation aims to enhance the efficiency of Ethereum's execution layer and alleviate scaling bottlenecks. Buterin highlighted that such a shift not only improves performance but also simplifies the execution layer. Additionally, Matter Labs, developers of the layer-2 blockchain ZKSync, face legal action from BANKEX over alleged intellectual property theft. In separate developments, Scroll's Euclid upgrade transitions the network from a controlled safety framework to a more decentralized format, marking a major milestone in its development. EigenLayer has also launched its 'slashing' feature, intended to ensure honesty among participants in the network by revoking collateral for malicious actions, thereby fulfilling its original vision. These movements represent significant technological advancements within the Ethereum ecosystem.
