Why there's hype around Hyperliquid
Hyperliquid, a layer-1 decentralized exchange (DEX), is gaining attention as its token, HYPE, demonstrates resilience despite a general market downturn. The token's value recently fell to around $23 but maintains a substantial share of DEX trading volumes, comprising 55% of a 7-day total. Hyperliquid's unique approach of launching its trading platform before the token has distinguished it in a crowded market. Of note is that 31% of HYPE tokens were distributed at the initial token generation event, with allocations set aside for future emissions and community rewards. Core contributor tokens are locked until November 2025, adding to their appeal during a time of widespread market weakness. However, potential challenges remain amidst the overall negativity surrounding altcoins. The hype might stem from the belief that Hyperliquid could set a new standard for token launches, potentially providing a more sustainable morale boost in the crypto ecosystem.
