US Crypto Exchange Kraken Launches Stock and ETF Trading
Kraken, the American crypto exchange based in San Francisco, has initiated commission-free trading for over 11,000 stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in select U.S. states, including New Jersey, Connecticut, and others. The move aims to provide a seamless trading experience for clients seeking 24/7 global access to various financial products alongside its existing cryptocurrency offerings. Kraken's Co-CEO Arjun Sethi emphasized the company's focus on expanding its services to meet increasing demand. The decision to enter stock trading follows a recent shift in regulatory stance by the U.S. SEC, which dismissed enforcement actions against Kraken and several other crypto firms. This easing of regulations coincides with Kraken's plans for further expansion into equities for international clients in markets like the UK, Australia, and Europe, and aligns with its strategy to grow within a changing financial landscape that is more accommodating towards digital and traditional assets alike.
