IG Group, a UK-listed trading and financial services company, has announced the launch of cryptocurrency trading for retail investors, significantly expanding its digital asset offerings. Now, customers can trade 31 different crypto assets including Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP, alongside popular memecoins like Bonk. This development enhances IG's previous offering of crypto-based contracts for differences (CFDs). The new trading service is integrated with Uphold, which will manage customer transactions and provide pricing data across IG’s trading platform and app. Michael Healy, IG’s UK managing director, stated that this event marks a significant milestone in the UK’s crypto landscape, allowing retail investors access to a more developed trading environment. Meanwhile, the UK government continues to work towards establishing regulatory standards for cryptocurrency, including new rules aimed at protecting investors. This aligns with a broader trend of increasing crypto adoption in the UK, with the country leading European markets in this regard.
