UK Government Releases Draft Crypto Rules
The UK government released consultation papers on draft legislation for the crypto sector, announcing the creation of new regulated activities such as operating a cryptoasset trading exchange and issuing stablecoins. This initiative aims to address regulatory oversight in the cryptocurrency market and includes provisions for market abuse and admissions and disclosures regimes. The proposal follows up on crypto regulatory plans initiated by the previous Conservative government, and despite a change in administration to Labour, the ongoing effort intends to uphold much of the former regime's vision. The government indicates its commitment to establishing a clear regulatory framework for crypto activities in the UK.
