Ubisoft, LayerZero launch network for migrating crypto game assets
Ubisoft has partnered with LayerZero to establish a Decentralized Verification Network (DVN), allowing players to migrate NFTs and in-game currencies across different blockchains. The DVN, leveraging LayerZero’s omnichain messaging protocol, aims to facilitate smoother cross-chain transactions, ensuring players can seamlessly use their assets in various Ubisoft games. Initially, Ubisoft may implement this feature in its fantasy turn-based RPG, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which is set on the Oasys blockchain. The technology converts assets into Omnichain NFTs and fungible tokens, with Ubisoft determining bridging costs upfront, eliminating surprises for users. LayerZero supports over 130 blockchains, including Ethereum and Solana, empowering Ubisoft’s ambition to create a chain-agnostic user experience. The ultimate goal is to abstract blockchain complexities, creating a user-friendly environment where players do not need to consider the underlying chains or transaction fees.
