Tigran Gambaryan resigns from Binance
Tigran Gambaryan has officially resigned from Binance after being detained in Nigeria for eight months and returning to the US in October 2024. Gambaryan, who was held alongside fellow executive Nadeem Anjarwalla, announced his departure from the company on June 6, 2025. Despite the challenges he faced, including serious health issues during his detention, he expressed his intention to remain involved in the crypto industry. He emphasized the increasing need for experienced operators who can bridge the gap between technology, enforcement, and compliance as digital assets converge with traditional finance. His resignation follows a tumultuous period with allegations of money laundering and tax evasion lodged against him and Anjarwalla by Nigerian authorities. Gambaryan maintained that he did not have executive decision-making authority at Binance, and he suffered from deteriorating health, drawing international scrutiny over his imprisonment. As he steps away from Binance, Gambaryan aims to continue making an impact in a mission-driven capacity, whether in public service or the private sector.
