This Week in Crypto Games: Square Enix and Sony, Adidas on Sui, Coinbase Sponsors 'League' Esports
The crypto gaming sector is gaining momentum with key developments. Square Enix has announced the expansion of its blockchain game, Symbiogenesis, from Polygon to Sony’s Ethereum layer-2 network, Soneium, allowing players to earn NFT collectibles by completing quests until May 31. In another collaboration, Adidas is launching 2,600 limited edition NFT mystery boxes for the Sui-based game, Xociety, offering Adidas-branded virtual apparel for in-game avatars. Each mystery box is priced at $129 and will be available from May 16 to May 23. Moreover, Coinbase has entered a multi-year partnership with Riot Games as the exclusive crypto partner for League of Legends and Valorant esports events, starting at the Valorant Masters in Toronto this June, with plans for in-game currency analyses and fan engagement initiatives. Other notable updates include the reveal of an AI agent by move-to-earn game Sweat and the upcoming launch of MapleStory Universe. Nintendo also clarified that AI-generated images were not used in its new Mario Kart World game, amidst speculation from gamers.
