Tether Expands into AI with New Applications and SDK
Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, is intensifying its focus on artificial intelligence by developing various AI applications through its division, Tether Data. CEO Paolo Ardoino announced AI projects including AI Translate, AI Voice Assistant, and AI Bitcoin Wallet Assistant on February 4. Tether plans to launch its own open-source AI SDK platform based on Bare, suitable for diverse hardware. Tether started its AI journey in 2023 with investments in a European crypto miner focused on cloud computing and generative AI, and recently initiated a recruitment drive for top talent in AI. Ardoino hinted at a website draft for Tether's AI platform and aims for a launch by the end of Q1 2025. In addition, Tether reported record profits of $13 billion in 2024, with an extensive $113 billion US Treasury portfolio, while its stablecoin remains the third largest in market capitalization at $141 billion after minting another billion dollars on February 5.
