Tether, Bitfinex Move $2.7 Billion in Bitcoin to Twenty One Capital
Tether and Bitfinex have transferred approximately 25,812 Bitcoin, valued at $2.7 billion, to Twenty One Capital, a Bitcoin treasury company. This move is part of pre-funding for an equity raise related to Twenty One Capital, which involves notable investors like Cantor Fitzgerald and SoftBank. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino indicated on social media that the transfers were anticipated and part of a commitment to transparency. Alongside the transfer, plans for Twenty One Capital to feature proof of reserves were discussed. The firm is set to go public via a SPAC merger and intends to raise further capital through convertible notes. Shares of Cantor Equity Partners rose 7% following the announcements, reflecting investor optimism as the company aims to secure funding to allows it to bolster its Bitcoin holdings beyond traditional equity methods.
