Tether AI, the upcoming artificial intelligence platform from Tether, will support payments in major cryptocurrencies including USDt and Bitcoin. CEO Paolo Ardoino announced on May 5 that the platform aims to facilitate transactions through a peer-to-peer network, utilizing a newly-launched wallet development kit (WDK) that allows for self-custodial wallets. Unlike custodial wallets, these solutions enable users to have complete control over their assets without relying on third-party custodians. Ardoino highlighted that Tether AI will operate on a fully open-source, modular design that adapts to various hardware and devices, thus ensuring no centralized control points are involved. This initiative aligns with Tether's broader strategy to expand into artificial intelligence, with efforts already underway to incorporate innovative solutions like AI Translate and AI Voice Assistant. Ardoino envisions Tether AI as a foundational technology, echoing Isaac Asimov's perspectives on the integration of AI into everyday life.
