An Israeli-Russian citizen, Alexander Gurevich, alleged to be involved in the $190 million Nomad bridge hack, is set to be extradited to the US after his arrest at an Israeli airport while attempting to board a flight to Russia. Gurevich's extradition follows allegations of computer crimes, including money laundering and transferring stolen property associated with the Nomad Bridge hack in 2022. He had returned to Israel days before the hack and reportedly changed his name shortly after. Gurevich exploited a security vulnerability in the Nomad bridge and stole approximately $2.89 million. Communication between him and a Nomad executive revealed that he admitted his actions and even sought compensation for identifying the vulnerability. US federal authorities have filed charges carrying a potential sentence of 20 years, significantly harsher than what he might face in Israel. Gurevich was arrested on May 1 while waiting to leave for Russia, culminating in a complex investigation into the major crypto theft.
