The Sui Foundation has partnered with Blockaid to bolster the security of the Sui ecosystem. Blockaid will focus on protecting Sui wallets and addressing issues such as smart contract exploits and operational faults. Despite the benefits of Sui's Move programming language, which helps mitigate many common vulnerabilities, protocol-level attacks remain a concern. As of early 2025, the Sui blockchain has reported 67.3 million accounts and $1.1 billion in total value locked, a drop from $2 billion earlier in January. Recent attacks against Sui users, notably a $29 million loss due to a January exploit, highlighted the need for enhanced security measures, as tracing stolen funds proved challenging due to limitations in existing blockchain analytics tools. This partnership aims to address these security challenges and improve the resilience of the Sui network, while previous audits have underscored the importance of continuous assessment even with the advantages of the Move language.
