Stablecoin, market structure bills should get done this year — Rep. Khanna
US Representative Ro Khanna emphasized the urgency of passing both stablecoin and crypto market structure legislation during the Digital Assets Summit on March 18, 2025. He noted that there is significant support among Democrats, with around 70 to 80 members recognizing the value of stablecoins in enhancing American global influence and providing greater access to U.S. dollars, especially in developing nations. Khanna highlighted ongoing stablecoin legislation in Congress and referenced the FIT21 market structure bill he co-authored. Despite his enthusiasm for these bills, he criticized President Trump’s involvement with a memecoin, asserting that elected officials should not engage in such ventures as they detract from valuable underlying technologies. He urged Congress to focus on creating robust regulations for the digital asset market to strengthen public confidence in the technology.
