Stablecoin, market structure bills should get done this year — Rep. Khanna

US Representative Ro Khanna expressed optimism at the Digital Assets Summit on March 18 regarding Congress's capacity to pass both stablecoin and crypto market structure bills within the year. He noted a growing understanding among 70 to 80 Democrats about how stablecoin legislation could enhance American influence globally, particularly in regions with limited access to physical dollars. Khanna referenced ongoing legislative efforts surrounding stablecoin and the FIT21 market structure bill, suggesting some adjustments are necessary but a foundational structure should be established. While advocating for regulatory progress, Khanna criticized President Trump's memecoin, asserting that elected officials should avoid such distractions that detract from the intrinsic value of blockchain technology. He emphasized that public perception of underlying technology is crucial for its acceptance.
