Spark airdrop lights the fuse on decentralized governance
Spark, the DeFi protocol known for SparkLend and Spark Savings, has launched its Ignition airdrop campaign aimed at rewarding early contributors and initiating decentralized governance through the SPK token. Approximately 50,000 participants, eligible based on engagement with SparkLend or possession of certain stablecoins, can claim their SPK tokens during a six-week window following the token launch. While specific details about the launch date are not yet announced, participants are advised to remain vigilant against phishing attempts. The campaign’s first phase, Ignition, will be succeeded by Overdrive, which will introduce a staking rewards program for SPK holders. This initiative is viewed as a significant milestone for Spark as it aspires to create a more interconnected decentralized financial system. The SPK token is envisioned to govern protocol upgrades and capital allocation decisions. Following a 10-year emission roadmap, the distribution will begin with 1.625 billion SPK tokens annually, tapering down to 203 million by the seventh year. Spark’s efforts emphasize the importance of liquidity and governance alignment across the DeFi landscape, enhancing its position as a substantial player in decentralized finance.
