Solana Spaces comes back to life in NYC
Solana Spaces, which previously operated a merchandise store in New York's Hudson Yards, has returned as a pop-up shop at Solana's Accelerate conference. Originally funded by FTX, the new iteration is backed by a memecoin community, signaling a fresh approach. This 'season 2' of Solana Spaces focuses on running pop-up stores alongside crypto conferences, offering Solana-branded merchandise. The lower east side pop-up thrived with crypto enthusiasts, with sales occurring through both stablecoins and credit cards. The revival was partly spearheaded by fans of the original store and includes funding from the Solana Foundation. The new team, while acknowledging skepticism about reviving the business, hopes to establish a community hub where blockchain enthusiasts can connect through shared merchandise. The goal is to foster a sense of belonging within the crypto community, leveraging merchandise as a form of identity.
