Teleport, a ridesharing app based on Solana, has ceased operations just eight months after its launch, attributing its closure to the market's unreadiness for decentralized ridesharing solutions. In their official statement, the company expressed disappointment over the outcome and confirmed plans to support users in off-ramping their USD Coin balances until February 28. Teleport's creation was described as a challenging endeavor by founder Paul Bohm, who noted that the decentralized rideshare market is still immature. The app had aimed to differentiate itself from competitors like Uber by providing lower fees, charging 10% compared to Uber's 25-30%. Despite having 13,834 users and completing 1,321 rides between its launch and late November, the service struggled with availability issues, as highlighted in its app reviews. The company plans to release a detailed analysis of the reasons behind its closure in the future.
