SEGA's Code of Joker franchise is expanding into the blockchain gaming sector with a new title called Code of Joker: Evolutions being developed by Jokers, Inc. on the Sui blockchain. This NFT card game allows players to open card packs and collect cards on-chain as Sui NFTs. Although footage from the game includes iconic SEGA characters, the likelihood of Sonic the Hedgehog being featured is low due to SEGA's previous statements against licensing major IPs for blockchain games. However, SEGA has successfully licensed other brands in the past for blockchain-related projects. There is currently little information available about Code of Joker: Evolutions, including whether it will be released in English. The game is scheduled to launch by end of summer 2023 for iOS, Android, and web platforms. This move aligns with growing blockchain participation, particularly in Asia, where significant mobile gaming revenue is generated.
