Saifedean Ammous, author of The Bitcoin Standard, claims that Michael Saylor's potential ownership of 10 million Bitcoin would not jeopardize the Bitcoin protocol. In an interview, he emphasized that even massive holdings by firms like Saylor's Strategy or BlackRock wouldn’t endanger the network, as any Bitcoin held actually belongs to their shareholders. Ammous remarked that if Saylor were to accumulate such a large amount of Bitcoin, it would likely lead him to leverage further investments rather than manipulate the supply. He asserted that should these companies mishandle their holdings, investors would simply shift their assets elsewhere. At the time, Saylor’s Strategy reportedly held 538,200 Bitcoin, and BlackRock held approximately 585,000 Bitcoin. Combined, these two institutions own about 5.3% of the total Bitcoin supply. Ammous remains unconcerned about the influence of these entities, arguing that their role is to act in the best interests of their investors. He noted that if either firm behaved contrary to their fiduciary duties, it would prompt shareholders to seek alternative investment channels.
