Saudi Arabia has announced an investment of $14.9 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) through partnerships with global tech companies such as Google, Lenovo, and Alibaba. This announcement was made during a tech conference in Riyadh on February 9, where Saudi Minister Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha stated the intention of transforming the kingdom into a regional AI hub. The investment will span emerging technologies and cloud computing. Aramco's executive vice president, Ahmad Al-Khowaiter, emphasized the necessity of collaboration among multiple companies to fulfill the promises of AI advancements. Notably, Aramco has entered a $1.5 billion partnership with Groq to enhance cloud computing capabilities. Furthermore, Lenovo and a local manufacturing company, Alat, are set to invest $2 billion in building advanced AI and robotics facilities in Saudi Arabia. Other tech giants have also committed varying amounts towards localized AI initiatives, totaling an impressive financial commitment across the board.
