Saudi Arabia has pledged $14.9 billion to enhance its AI sector through partnerships with global tech companies like Google, Lenovo, and Alibaba. The announcement was made during a tech conference in Riyadh on February 9 by Saudi Minister Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha. This investment encompasses AI, emerging technologies, and cloud infrastructure. Ahmad Al-Khowaiter from Aramco emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to realize AI's potential, stating no single company can achieve this alone. Among the major investments, Aramco partnered with Groq for $1.5 billion to develop AI-powered cloud capabilities. Additionally, Lenovo and Alat will establish a production facility for AI and robotics with a $2 billion investment. Other tech giants, including Google, Qualcomm, and Salesforce, have also launched initiatives to foster localized AI advancements. This ambitious investment signals Saudi Arabia's intent to position itself as a leading hub for AI innovation in the region.
