Sam Altman’s World launches Mini Apps 1.2, lets devs build-to-earn
Tools for Humanity has released Mini Apps 1.2, enhancing the app's loading speed, adding haptic feedback, allowing customization, and enabling users to pin favorite mini apps to their home screens without opening the Worldcoin Wallet app. Currently available in 30 countries, the app supports over 150 mini apps, primarily from third-party developers. A new Developer Rewards pilot program launches on April 1, offering developers a chance to earn from a $300,000 pool of Worldcoin by developing and updating mini apps, with top-performing apps potentially earning up to $25,000 per week. Popular app categories include games, AI assistants, finance apps, and payment systems utilizing Worldcoin. However, in-app purchases are required for specific digital goods due to Apple and Google policies, complicating transactions for items like NFTs while direct transactions to developers are permitted for others. Tools for Humanity aims to create sustainable reward systems for user engagement without reliance on gamified earning models, which have faced challenges in maintaining value. The World app distinguishes itself from competitors by providing clearer identification of bots and minimizing overwhelming experiences.
