Sam Altman’s World Crypto Project Launches in US With Eye-Scanning Orbs
Sam Altman's blockchain initiative, World, unveiled plans to deploy 7,500 eye-scanning orbs across six major U.S. cities by the year's end. The orbs, designed for identity verification, will first be introduced in Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. Users who engage with the orbs will gain access to the World app and receive airdropped WLD tokens. World aims to expand its network to reach over 180 million Americans. At a recent San Francisco press conference, the company announced additional features, including crypto-backed loans and prediction markets, along with a Visa debit card for WLD token transactions. Furthermore, World plans to partner with dating platforms like Tinder for age verification through its identity-management technology. Altman expressed that the idea for World emerged prior to his work on OpenAI, emphasizing its foundational significance.
