RTFKT’s CloneX avatars reappear after issue blacks out NFTs
RTFKT’s CloneX NFTs have become visible again following a Cloudflare issue that caused a blackout of over 19,800 digital avatars. On April 24, users encountered a message stating their content had been restricted due to a violation of Cloudflare's terms of service. The incident is attributed to a missed payment and inadequacies in RTFKT's Cloudflare plan for high-traffic image serving. After resolving the issue, RTFKT's head of tech, Samuel Cardillo, announced that efforts are underway to decentralize the hosting of CloneX NFTs, potentially moving to Arweave. The incident has prompted concerns from NFT holders, with some expressing frustration, particularly following RTFKT's recent closure and lack of developments since its acquisition by Nike in December 2021. Cardillo stated he is managing the situation alone following the firm's shutdown earlier this year, indicating plans to prevent future issues through decentralized solutions.
