Ripple commits $5M more toward crypto research in APAC
Ripple Labs has announced an additional commitment of $5 million to support academic research and blockchain talent development in the Asia-Pacific region. This funding is part of the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) and will be distributed across universities in six countries, with new grants for institutions in Taiwan and Australia. Notable allocations include $1.1 million to Yonsei University in South Korea, $1.5 million to both Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo in Japan, and over $3 million to Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore in Singapore. These grants are designed to bolster research efforts, particularly in areas such as AI and Real-World Asset (RWA) tokenization. Professor Yang Liu emphasized that grants provided by UBRI have enhanced research capabilities at Nanyang Technological University, while National Kaohsiung University expressed enthusiasm for exploring tokenization on the XRP Ledger. This is in addition to the $25 million Ripple has recently allocated to education nonprofits in the US, demonstrating its commitment to improving crypto education.
