Ripple, the US-based crypto services firm, has pledged $25 million in Ripple USD (RLUSD) to educational nonprofits DonorsChoose and Teach For America. This initiative aims to support teachers and students, addressing what Ripple describes as significant funding gaps in K-12 education. A survey conducted by Gallup in 2024 indicated that 55% of US parents and adults are dissatisfied with the quality of education in the nation, emphasizing the need for additional resources. The grant will be facilitated through The Giving Block, which acts as a crypto charity intermediary. Ripple's CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, expressed hope that this contribution will motivate others to offer similar support, particularly during Teacher Appreciation Week. Teach For America's CEO highlighted that the funding would enable the expansion of programs designed for teacher training and innovation in education. The cryptocurrency sector has seen increased charitable activity, with other firms like Binance also contributing significantly to disaster relief efforts.
