AI firm Sentient Labs, founded by Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal and supported by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, is set to launch Open Deep Search (ODS), a framework intended to compete with closed-source AI search products. ODS aims to enhance Sentient Chat's capabilities, which allows users to experience AI models and applications built on these models. The current testing phase limits access, but a public release is anticipated soon. Sentient is focused on creating “loyal” AI models, notably its model Dobby, which recently showed higher accuracy against benchmark FRAMES compared to competitors. Tyagi highlights the importance of decentralization, arguing it opens up AI development while enhancing data accessibility. Sentient's approach encourages community ownership and the creation of custom plugins and search agents, which distinguishes it from competitors like Perplexity. With a substantial waitlist for Sentient Chat and a user base for Dobby, the firm aims to innovate AI accessibility through decentralized technologies.
