PayPal, Venmo to roll out Solana, Chainlink transfers
PayPal has expanded its cryptocurrency offerings to include Chainlink (LINK) and Solana (SOL), enabling US users to buy, sell, and transfer these tokens. This feature will also be available on Venmo, PayPal's mobile payment platform. The decision to add LINK and SOL follows user requests for a broader range of crypto tokens. PayPal's crypto services are currently limited to US residents, with the company boasting around 428 million accounts globally. May Zabaneh from PayPal's crypto division emphasized that providing more choices in digital currencies enhances user experience. Currently, PayPal's offerings include seven different digital assets, including its own stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), which recently achieved a peak market cap of over $1 billion in mid-2024. While PYUSD's circulation has since decreased, PayPal's engagement in the cryptocurrency space remains significant as it aids in increasing stablecoin adoption amidst industry uncertainty.
