Ondo Finance unveils layer-1 blockchain for institutions to tokenize RWAs
Ondo Finance has announced the launch of its layer-1 blockchain, named Ondo Chain, aimed at institutions seeking to tokenize real-world assets (RWAs). This initiative was unveiled during the company's inaugural New York summit on February 6. The blockchain, which will also allow anyone to create tokens and build applications, is designed to enhance investor protections through a permissioned validator model, reducing risks like miner extractable value (MEV) and front-running. Institutions like PayPal, Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton, and Google Cloud are advising the development of Ondo Chain. Key features include cross-collateralized margin for RWAs, staking of tokenized assets, and wealth management solutions. While no launch date has been disclosed, the platform promotes accessibility for all interested developers and users. The newly formed strategic reserve, as described by Chase Herro of World Liberty Financial, is set to incorporate various crypto assets, bolstering the platform's trust and utility in the financial market.
