Ondo Finance has launched Ondo Global Markets (Ondo GM), a tokenization platform aimed at bringing US securities such as stocks, bonds, and ETFs onchain. The company stated that its platform will address major challenges in traditional securities investment, including high fees, limited access, and transfer frictions. By employing blockchain technology, Ondo GM seeks to enhance the accessibility, transparency, and efficiency of financial markets, akin to how stablecoins have improved the availability of US dollars. The platform plans to offer exposure to over 1,000 securities listed on the NYSE and Nasdaq, ensuring that each token will be backed 1:1 by the respective security it represents. Additionally, trading will be available 24/7 globally, reflecting a shift in market dynamics as traditional exchanges, like Cboe Global Markets, adapt to compete with onchain trading options.
