OKX to restart DEX with anti-abuse upgrades after Lazarus ‘misuse’
OKX has re-launched its decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator, OKX Web3, with enhanced security features following a suspension in March due to misuse by the Lazarus Group, a North Korean hacking organization. OKX announced a new real-time abuse detection and blocking system to identify suspicious on-chain activities and block bad actors. The new upgrades also include a dynamic database of suspect addresses that issue proactive alerts for risky transactions. The exchange emphasized its collaboration with prominent blockchain security firms for audits and verification. In March, OKX had paused its DEX aggregator to upgrade its systems after reports that it was exploited for illicit activities. The firm noted that other crypto platforms have faced similar issues with the Lazarus Group, which has been linked to laundering funds from significant hacks. OKX aims to enhance user safety and transaction integrity as part of its updated offerings in the blockchain ecosystem.
