OKX suspends DEX aggregator to stop ‘further misuse’ by Lazarus
OKX has temporarily paused its decentralized exchange aggregator following a detected misuse by the North Korean hacking group Lazarus. The decision, made after consultations with regulators, aims to prevent further exploitation of its DeFi services. The DEX aggregator, known as OKX Web3, will undergo internal reviews and upgrades, although crypto wallet services will still be available, with some limitations on new wallet creation. This measure follows media scrutiny regarding OKX’s role during a recent hack involving Bybit, where funds were reportedly laundered through its platform. The company has stated that its DEX aggregator is not responsible for customer asset custody and is taking steps to enhance security, including real-time black address detection and blocking systems. OKX reassured users that it is committed to combating financial crime amid ongoing investigations and targeted media attacks.
