Nvidia to Build AI Supercomputer and New HQ in Taiwan
Nvidia has announced plans to establish one of the world's most powerful AI supercomputers in Taiwan, along with a new headquarters in Taipei. CEO Jensen Huang revealed at the Computex trade show that the supercomputer will utilize over 10,000 Blackwell GPUs and will be housed at the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC). This initiative aims to support various Taiwanese AI projects, including TAIDE, which focuses on developing multilingual chatbots and healthcare tools. The project underscores Nvidia's reliance on Taiwan's advanced scientific infrastructure and chip manufacturing capabilities, particularly its partnership with TSMC. Amid growing geopolitical tensions and U.S. trade policies, this expansion indicates Nvidia's strategic move to secure its supply chain while simultaneously committing $500 billion to U.S. infrastructure development. The new supercomputer is expected to significantly enhance AI performance for national projects and facilitate breakthroughs in fields such as quantum computing and advanced scientific research.
