Nigerian Court Adjourns Binance Tax Case to End of April
A Nigerian court in Abuja has adjourned the tax evasion case against Binance to April 30, 2025. This case involves Nigeria seeking $81.5 billion from Binance, claiming its operations have harmed the economy and devalued the Naira. The adjournment follows Binance's legal challenges against a court order permitting Nigeria's Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to serve legal documents via email, which Binance argues is unauthorized. Additionally, Binance has no physical presence in Nigeria. The company has been accused of facilitating capital flight through its peer-to-peer trading platform amid rising currency volatility. This case is part of ongoing regulatory scrutiny in Nigeria, which previously led to the detention of Binance executives.
