NFT founder stole millions from Bitcoin project, investors allege
Investors in the Hashling NFT project have filed a lawsuit against founder Jonathan Mills, claiming he misappropriated millions from their operations and a related Bitcoin mining venture. The lawsuit, filed on May 14 in Illinois, alleges that Mills failed to pay promised equity returns and falsely claimed to have transferred project profits to a holding company he controls, Satoshi Labs LLC. The investors also assert that they raised $1.46 million through two NFT drops but received no returns. Mills reportedly misled them about the equity distribution, securing 67% control while allowing investors only 2% for significant contributions. They accuse him of creating flawed legal documents to support his claims and ghosting them after the project's initial success. In addition to fraudulent practices, the plaintiffs seek a constructive trust over the assets and legal restitution for their losses.
