New Bitcoin Faucet Launches—But There’s No Free Coins Yet
Charlie Shrem has launched 21million.com, a Bitcoin faucet aimed at distributing small amounts of Bitcoin to users who complete CAPTCHA tasks. This concept echoes the original Bitcoin faucet created by Gavin Andresen in 2010, which distributed a total of 19,700 BTC to promote adoption. As of May 5, 2025, the site is not yet operational, and no Bitcoin has been distributed. The faucet utilizes a minimalist design reminiscent of its predecessor, engaging users with a CAPTCHA challenge. Interestingly, Shrem described the project as 'vibe coded,' indicating a modern development approach that relies on AI tools for software creation without extensive traditional coding. Despite current challenges, community members have expressed willingness to support the initiative financially, highlighting ongoing interest in the faucet concept, especially given Bitcoin's soaring value, making traditional giveaways less feasible today. Shrem has not yet commented on the faucet's status or addressed requests for Bitcoin from the community.
