New agent launches on Virtuals plummet amid AI token drawdown
New artificial intelligence agent launches on the Virtuals Protocol have substantially decreased in February due to significant price drops in AI tokens. Data indicates fewer than 100 new AI agent tokens have been launched this month, a stark contrast to November's peak where around 1,300 new pairs debuted in just one day. The Virtuals platform, which is designed for launching AI agents and their corresponding tokens, originally launched on the Ethereum layer-2 network Base and is set to extend to Solana. Current AI agent tokens have experienced declines of up to 90% from their 2024 highs, with major platforms like Virtuals losing up to 90% of their market capitalization since January. The VIRTUAL token fell from a peak market cap of over $4.5 billion to approximately $750 million by February 7. As of now, although over 17,000 AI agent tokens have been launched, only a few of them maintain market caps exceeding $1 million.
