Nasdaq-listed fintech Netcapital acquires crypto native protocol Mixie
Netcapital, a Nasdaq-listed financial technology company, has acquired the crypto-native protocol Mixie, a no-code Web3 gaming platform, aiming to bridge traditional and decentralized finance. The acquisition, made by Netcapital’s portfolio company, Zelgor, is the first of its kind by a publicly-listed company to specifically target a crypto-native project. Following the news, NCPL shares surged over 16% and have increased 48% year-to-date. Netcapital highlighted its interest in Mixie's tokenization infrastructure and accelerator model, which supports early-stage founders. The company operates a digital capital markets platform that facilitates capital raising for private companies while providing investors access to private equity opportunities. The acquisition is seen as a strategic move to enhance synergies between Mixie's offerings and Netcapital's browser-based security protocols. 2025 has been projected as a pivotal year for crypto mergers and acquisitions, indicating ongoing industry consolidation and favorable regulatory conditions in the U.S. Financial experts predict more M&A activity as the market matures, with significant deals already noted in the first quarter of the year.
