More than 70 US crypto ETFs await SEC decision this year
More than 70 cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are set for review by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this year. These proposals cover a wide array of assets, including altcoins, memecoins, and derivatives. According to Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas, the anticipated ETFs will feature assets ranging from established cryptocurrencies like XRP, Litecoin, and Solana to lesser-known ones. Despite a growing interest from institutional investors in cryptocurrencies—more than 80% indicated plans to invest in 2025—analysts warn that ETF approvals do not ensure widespread adoption among investors. Notably, altcoin ETFs are expected to attract inflows of several hundred million to $1 billion. In contrast, Bitcoin ETFs have already demonstrated substantial interest, driving billions in assets. Options-based ETFs could offer more appealing strategies for institutional investors, as they provide flexible exposure to various cryptocurrencies. Additionally, ARK Invest's recent move to include Solana in its ETFs marks a significant step in making such assets accessible to US investors.
