A targeted exploit has drained $2.15 million in MBU tokens from Mobius smart contracts on the BNB Chain, detected on May 11. The attacker deployed a malicious contract to withdraw 28.5 million MBU tokens from the victim's wallet and converted them to USD Tether (USDT). Security firm Cyvers Alerts noted that the attack was executed within minutes of deploying the contract, labeling it critical due to the suspicious contract code and unusual transaction patterns. As of the latest update, the attacker's wallet is still active, holding the stolen funds. Mobius Token's team has not made an official statement regarding the incident. This exploit adds to an alarming trend in the crypto space, where losses due to hacks surged significantly in April 2025, totaling nearly $360 million across various incidents, marking a 990% increase from March 2025.
