Metaplanet, a Japanese firm known as 'Asia's MicroStrategy', is seeking to acquire 21,000 Bitcoin by 2026. Recently, the company raised over 116 billion yen ($745 million) through a large equity issuance with plans to increase its Bitcoin holdings significantly from its current amount of 1,761 Bitcoin. This initiative aligns with its adoption of a Bitcoin investment model inspired by MicroStrategy, which leads corporate Bitcoin holdings globally. Meanwhile, Korean cryptocurrency exchanges experienced a dramatic 450% increase in new account applications following Donald Trump's victory, with 2.07 million new accounts created in 2024. This surge was notably among applicants aged 40 and over. Additionally, the popularity of a new AI application, DeepSeek, has created turbulence in the market, impacting Bitcoin's value, but it has recently rebounded above $100,000 amid heightened trading volumes during the Lunar New Year.
