Metaplanet, a Japanese hotel company, has officially raised its bitcoin (BTC) holdings to a total of 5,000 BTC, reflecting a significant acquisition of 145 BTC. This strategic move has resulted in a year-to-date BTC yield of 121.1% in 2025, signaling notable gains in their treasury operations. The total value of Metaplanet's BTC holdings is approximately $428.1 million, with an average acquisition price of $85,621 per Bitcoin. Recent purchases were made at about $93,327 each, amounting to roughly $13.6 million. The company has developed a proprietary Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for tracking treasury performance, which isolates gains from bitcoin acquisition strategies while accounting for potential dilution from newly issued shares. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, the yield stood at 95.6%, demonstrating the effectiveness of their investment strategy. However, shares of Metaplanet were observed trading 5% lower at the time of reporting.
