Matter Labs, known for developing ZKSync, faces a lawsuit from the defunct blockchain firm BANKEX, which claims that two former employees unlawfully appropriated its technology to create ZKSync. BANKEX alleges that Alexandr Vlasov and Petr Korolev, who were tasked with developing operational software for a service called Plasma at BANKEX, instead used the company’s resources to establish Matter Labs secretly. The lawsuit, filed in New York State Supreme Court, accuses them of transferring BANKEX's technology and developing competing projects covertly. Vlasov currently serves as the head of R&D at Matter Labs, while Korolev founded the security firm OXORIO. Matter Labs' CEO Alex Gluchowski, along with co-founders and investors, is also named in the lawsuit, which the company to be entirely baseless. Matter Labs insists that ZKSync technology is wholly original and not derived from BANKEX's intellectual property, looking forward to resolving the allegations in court.
