Mango Markets exploiter sentenced to over 4 years on child porn charges
Avraham Eisenberg, involved in the 2022 Mango Markets exploit, was sentenced to over four years in prison on child pornography charges, which are unrelated to his role in the hack. A judge handed down a 52-month sentence during a hearing in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Eisenberg's legal troubles began with a 2024 indictment for fraud related to the hack that drained the decentralized exchange of approximately $100 million through price oracle manipulation. After his guilty plea in the child pornography case, he was expected to be sentenced alongside his fraud case, which remains pending. Eisenberg argued that the exploit was a legal trading strategy, disputing the notion that it constituted cybercrime. The case highlights the increasing scrutiny and prosecution of cybercriminals in the cryptocurrency industry.
